Quill Polypropylene Suture Double Armed SH-1 Taper Needles

Quill™ barbed bi-directional double armed suture is a time-saving knotless approximation closure device that eliminates the need to tie knots to secure the closure. The barbed design evenly distributes tension, offering a unique combination of security and speed—increasing both efficiency and value.

  • Helical barbed pattern maximizes tissue grab and hold.
  • Quill comes in two barb configurations: bi-directional and uni-directional.
  • Bi-directional Quill is a double-armed suture. Barbs reverse direction at the mid-point of the suture.
  • Surgical Specialties SH-1 22 mm long and 1\2 circle curvature taper point needles are designed for optimal performance. Each one is forged from a proprietary stainless steel alloy for maximum strength, ductility and hardness and manufactured with German-designed robotics to ensure quality and repeatability.
  • Quill Barbed Polypropylene Double Armed SH-1 Needles Utilization

Surgical Specialties’ Polypropylene / Undyed Non-Absorbable Monofilament Suture has superior tensile strength compared to other monofilaments. In addition, a unique extruding technique ensures a uniformly round cross section and a strand that passes easily through tissue and is easy to handle. Polypropylene is not absorbed, nor is any significant change in tensile strength retention known to occur in vivo. As with traditional sutures, Quill™ barbed suture size is determined by its OUTER diameter. It is therefore recommended that when using Quill™ barbed suture, you upsize by one USP compared with traditional suture. For example if previously using a 3-0 traditional suture, we recommend using a 2-0 Quill™ barbed suture.

Polypropylene is indicated for use in general and skin closures, Abdominoplasty, Plication, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, and Microsurgery. Essentially comparable to Prolene™ and V-loc™ PBT suture.

Quill barbed knotless Polypropylene bi-directional suture lengths available from 7cm x 7cm up to 45cm x 45cm, sizes from 4-0 to 2 and Precision Fine Reverse Cutting, Reverse Cutting and Taper Point Needles.
