Surgical Specialties LOOK brand of sterile Plain Gut Absorbable Suture is manufactured by twisting strands of purified connective tissue (collagen) derived from either the serosal layer of beef or the submucosal fibrous layer of sheep intestines resulting in an extremely high initial tensile strength. The natural twisted thread is precision ground and polished to a uniform diameter in order to achieve a monofilament characteristic and treated with a glycerol containing solution for enhanced and standardized passage thru tissue while permitting smooth and secure knotting. Comparable to Ethicon Plain Surgical Gut Suture and Syneture Plain Gut Suture.
Indicated use includes in general soft tissue approximation and / or ligation when quick suture absorption levels are indicated: General Closure, Dental, Ophthalmic, OB/GYN, Urology and Bowel Anastomosis
Plain Gut Mass Absorption: Varies upon site of placement and suture size: usually degradation within 6 days and absorption within 10 days.
